Highly recommended for the accelerated effect this style of meditaiton has on our spiritual growth and development, Mondo Zen is one of the most important, creative, and novel additions to meditation in the 21st century. I trained as a Mondo Zen facilitator in August of 2010. I love this process for its ability to teach us how to tune into the information our emotions bring to us. In this way we can more skillfully respond in emotional situations as opposed to get carried away with our conditioned, kneejerk reactions. Mondo takes meditation off the cushion and into every day life. This is Zen updated for the 21st century so that the average "householder" can practice "in the world" engagement with direct personal experience as taught by the Buddha himself. Rober Masters is a scholler and a poet when it comes to integrating his work. This lady is sassy and gorgeous all round. Diane Musho Hamilton Sensei is a gifted mediator, facilitator, and teacher of Zen and Integral Spirituality. She has been a practitioner of meditation for more than 25 years. Diane began her studies at Naropa University in 1983 with Choygam Trungpa Rinpoche, and became a Zen student of Genpo Roshi’s in 1997. In 2003, she received ordination as a Zen monk with her husband Michael Zimmerman, and received dharma transmission from Roshi in 2006. Diane facilitates Big Mind Big Heart, a process developed by Genpo Roshi to help elicit the insights of Zen in Western audiences. She has worked with the Integral Institute since 2004.
For her, Zen practice is a fundamental commitment to experiencing reality as it is – beautiful, ungraspable and seamless, nothing other than your own life. It is also a practice in fearlessness, in compassion, and in seeing the wisdom in all situations and greeting them with a joyous mind. Sometimes Zen practice is satisfying; sometimes it isn’t.
